A Fresh Pair of Eyes on Your Business Can Change Everything

When you're deep in the day-to-day running of a business, it's almost impossible to see it clearly. You're too close to it. Things that could be done better become normal, inefficiencies get overlooked, and opportunities get missed simply because no one has stopped to look properly. An operations review gives you that outside perspective, backed by real experience and followed up with practical, actionable guidance that actually makes a difference.

You Can't Always See What's
Holding Your Business Back

Most business owners are brilliant at what they do. But being good at your trade and being able to see your business objectively are two very different things. When you're working in the business every day, it's easy to miss the things that are quietly costing you time, money, or opportunity.

That's not a failing. It's just how it works. Having someone come in with fresh eyes, no agenda, and real operational experience can shine a light on things you simply can't see from the inside.

What an Operations Review Actually Involves

An operations review isn't an audit or an inspection. It's a structured, practical look at how your business functions day-to-day. We look at everything from how work is organised and managed, to how your team operates, how your processes are structured, and whether the way things are being done is actually serving the business well.

At the end of it, you'll have a clear, honest picture of where things stand and a straightforward set of recommendations for what to change, improve, or build on. No lengthy reports full of jargon, just clear, practical guidance you can act on.

Finding the Opportunities Hidden in Plain Sight

One of the most satisfying parts of what we do is showing a business owner something they hadn't seen before, and watching it make a real difference. Sometimes it's a process that can be simplified. Sometimes it's a revenue opportunity that's been sitting there unused. Sometimes it's a cost that can be reduced without any impact on quality.

We helped one client make a single change to their contracts that generated £40,000 in additional revenue almost overnight. It wasn't complicated. It just needed someone to look at things from the outside and ask the right questions.

Improving the Way Your Business Runs Day-to-Day

Good operations aren't just about efficiency. They're about building a business that runs consistently, whether you're there or not. A business that relies entirely on the owner being present for everything to work properly is fragile. One that has solid processes and clear ways of working is far more resilient, and far more valuable.

We'll help you identify the areas where better processes would make the biggest difference and work with you to put them in place in a way that actually sticks. Not a theoretical framework, but something practical that works for your business and your team.

Consultancy That's Honest, Not Just Reassuring

There's no shortage of people who will tell you what you want to hear. What's harder to find is someone who will give you a genuinely honest assessment of where your business stands and what needs to change.

That's what we offer. We'll celebrate what's working and be straight with you about what isn't. If there's a difficult conversation to be had, we'll have it. And we'll always follow it up with practical guidance so you know exactly what to do next, not just what the problem is.

Andrew worked tirelessly to help me launch my cosmetic business, I knew I wanted to work for myself but didn’t have a clue where to start! He helped me Launch a website, with brand pack for marketing set up bank accounts and how to manage myself as a sole trader. He has recently helped me with my accounts and helped with self assessments which was invaluable, he’s one of the good guys in business for sure, thank you 🙏

That phrase, not having a clue where to start, is something we hear a lot. It's exactly the kind of situation an operations review and the right consultancy support is designed for. You don't need to have it all figured out before you get in touch.

Operational Experience Across Multiple Industries

Andrew has spent years running front-line operations across hospitality, property management, events, and trades-based businesses throughout Cornwall. When he reviews your operations, he's drawing on a broad, genuinely hands-on background, not theory.

Honest Assessments, Practical Recommendations

An operations review is only useful if it's honest and followed up with something actionable. We won't dress things up or hand you a report that sits in a drawer. You'll get a clear picture of where things stand and straightforward guidance on what to do next.

Flexible Engagement That Fits Your Business

Some Cornish businesses need a one-off review at a specific point in time. Others want ongoing consultancy support as they evolve. We'll work out the right level of involvement together and adjust it as your needs change.

This service is a great fit if you are:

  • A business owner who feels like something isn't quite working but can't put your finger on exactly what
  • Someone who's grown quickly and the way things were done at the start no longer fits where the business is now
  • A sole trader or small business preparing to take on staff or expand and wanting to make sure the foundations are solid first
  • Anyone who has been through a difficult period and wants a clear-eyed look at where things stand before deciding on next steps
  • A business owner who simply wants an experienced, outside perspective on how things are running

If any of that sounds familiar, let's have a conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does an operations review take?
It depends on the size and complexity of your business. For most small businesses and sole traders, we can complete an initial review relatively quickly and have clear recommendations ready for you to act on without it taking over your whole schedule. We'll give you a clear expectation before we start.
Will you just tell me what's wrong, or will you help me fix it?
Both. An operations review gives you a clear picture of what's working and what isn't. But we don't stop there. We'll work through the recommendations with you and support you in putting the right things in place, whether that's over a short engagement or on an ongoing basis.
My business is doing well. Is there still value in an operations review?
Often the best time to do a review is when things are going well, before a problem develops or before growth creates pressures the business isn't ready for. A review when things are running smoothly can help you make the most of that momentum and build a stronger foundation for what comes next.
I've already got processes in place. Isn't that enough?
Having processes is a great start. But processes that made sense when your business was smaller don't always scale well, and things that worked in one set of circumstances don't always work in another. A review will tell you honestly whether what you've got is still fit for purpose.
What kind of businesses do you work with?
We work predominantly with sole traders and small to medium-sized businesses, particularly in the trades, hospitality, and service industries. If you're not sure whether we're the right fit, get in touch and we'll have an honest conversation about it.
How is this different from bringing in a management consultant?
Traditional management consultants tend to work with larger businesses and often produce detailed reports that are difficult to translate into action. We work with smaller businesses and focus entirely on practical, implementable recommendations. The goal is always to make things better, not to produce a document.
