From Hospitality to
Helping Businesses Thrive

Andrew's career has always been about making things run smoothly. With over 15 years in frontline hospitality operations, he has managed teams, looked after clients, handled budgets, and kept everything ticking over behind the scenes.

Starting out in the North East at just 15, he worked his way up through the industry before relocating to Cornwall to join Together Travel, a company specialising in luxury self-catering retreats. There, he managed housekeeping and maintenance teams, dealt directly with property owners and guests, and built up a solid network of local tradespeople and contractors.

Over the years, Andrew became the person everyone went to when they needed something sorted. Eventually, he decided to put that to good use and go it alone.

Why APS Exists

There's a gap in the market that Andrew spotted early on. Tradespeople and small business owners are brilliant at what they do - but the business side of things often gets left behind.

It's not because they don't care. It's because nobody ever showed them how, and there simply aren't enough hours in the day.

Some of the most common things to slip through the cracks:

  • Some of the most common things that slip through the cracks:

  • No contracts in place for staff

  • Missing or out-of-date health and safety policies

  • No proper accounts or budget tracking

  • Little to no structure around recruitment

  • No one to turn to when a difficult situation arises

APS Business Operations Support exists to fill that gap. Whether it's getting the right documents in place, supporting with recruitment, mentoring a business owner through a tough spell, or helping plan for growth, Andrew steps in as a reliable, knowledgeable pair of hands.

Testimonial speech mark icon.
Andrew did an amazing job stepping in for me when I was overcapacity on other projects. He gave clear advice and instruction for my customers and supported my staff. I would highly recommend him for any business related activity. His connections and knowledge of the hospitality industry is far reaching and he was able to represent my company with ease.

Andrew has supported our business in a consultancy capacity for almost 12 months now. His approach to streamlining processes, increasing revenue as well as identifying areas where savings can be made has been critical to our company. Approachable, kind, funny and supportive are just some of the words we would use to describe Andrew, along with professional, knowledgable, organised and detail focussed! We are a business owned and operated by women and having a male perspective and energy come in and work alongside us has really allowed us to find solutions to challenges in a different way which has been brilliant!

A Hands-On Approach
(And He Means It)

Andrew doesn't just advise from a distance. When a client needs him on the ground, he shows up. That might mean sitting down with a stack of invoices, leading an interview process, stepping in to cover a shift, or helping a nervous business owner prepare for a difficult conversation with a member of staff.

There's no task too small if it helps the business move forward. That attitude has earned him trust with every client he's worked with.

Working With a
Network You Can Trust

Andrew works as a sole trader but draws on a trusted network of specialists when a project calls for it. That includes HR and health and safety consultants, accountancy support, and marketing partners. If you need something he doesn't handle directly, he'll know someone who does.

It's the kind of support that used to be out of reach for small businesses. Not any more.

Getting started is simple:

Questions People Ask Before Getting in Touch

What kind of businesses does Andrew typically work with?
Mostly sole traders and small to medium-sized businesses, particularly in the trades, construction, and hospitality sectors. That said, if you're a small business owner feeling stretched and in need of proper operational support, it's always worth a conversation.
Do I need to commit to a long-term contract?
Not necessarily. Some clients need a couple of months of intensive support to get things in order, others prefer ongoing monthly support. The arrangement is flexible and shaped around what you actually need.
What if I just need one thing sorted, like a staff handbook or a health and safety policy?
That's absolutely fine. Not every client needs everything. If you have a specific gap you want to fill, Andrew can focus just on that.
I'm not based in Cornwall. Can Andrew still help?
Andrew is based in Cornwall and has strong local connections, but a lot of operational and admin support can be handled remotely. Get in touch and we can work out what's possible.
What makes this different from hiring a consultant or an HR firm?
The personal approach. You're not dealing with a large agency or being handed between different people. You get Andrew directly — someone who genuinely invests in your business and is easy to talk to.
How quickly can Andrew get started?
That depends on current availability, but the first step is always a straightforward conversation to understand what you need. From there, things usually move quickly.
Is this only for businesses that are struggling?
Not at all. Some clients are doing well but want to put proper structures in place before they grow further. Getting the foundations right at the right time is far easier than fixing things when they go wrong.
